CLEARWATER — A lockdown at Clearwater High School late Tuesday morning was lifted after investigators determined that a report of a gun was unfounded.
According to Clearwater police, a student reported seeing a 16-year-old girl drop a gun during a change of classes just before 11 a.m. The student told her friends, who in turn reported it to the school resource officer.
The officer was able to identify and locate the girl. A lighter that looked like a gun was found in a bathroom trash can, police said.
The girl, who was not identified, was charged with disruption of school and violation of probation on a morphine possession charge. The juvenile's name was not released because both charges are misdemeanors, police said.
