CLEARWATER — A 26-year-old man is in jail after police seized more than 1,000 prescription pills in a drug bust, they said.

The Clearwater police narcotics unit began investigating David Mallet, of 1400 Alpine Road, No. 14, last week after hearing that he was selling large numbers of prescription pills from his home.

About 10 p.m. Monday, an undercover detective bought more than 1,000 pills of diazepam and oxycodone from Mallet, police said. About 100 more pills were found in his home, police said.

Mallet already was on probation for a Clearwater drug trafficking charge in 2008. He was arrested without incident on charges of possessing and selling prescription pills and violating probation.
