A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Clearwater rescued five people Monday afternoon from a boat stranded off the coast of Cedar Key, authorities said.
The people were 12 miles offshore in a 32-foot boat when an engine malfunctioned and they began to take on water, according to Coast Guard reports. One person on board called for help via marine radio at 1:31 p.m., and the Coast Guard sent a helicopter crew to the scene.
The boaters were hoisted off the boat. No injuries were reported.
