Controlled burn near I-75 not expected to affect interstate traffic

RUSKIN — Officials were doing a controlled burn off U.S. 41 Tuesday, but the smoke wasn't expected to affect the nearby Interstate 75.

About 75 acres was scheduled to burn until 4 p.m. Tuesday, said Bill Delph, fire prevention specialist for the Florida Forest Service. The southeastern wind will take the smoke away from the interstate.

Delph said he hadn't gotten any complaints about smoke affecting roads Tuesday morning.
