Countryside High student arrested after throwing 'destructive device' at school

CLEARWATER — A student set off a destructive device at Countryside High School at around 12:20 today, according to Clearwater police.

A 17-year-old student was arrested. Police said he mixed chemicals in a bottle and threw it in an outside hallway leading to the parking lot. The student's name and charges were not immediately released.

No students were injured by the device, but one female student was taken to a hospital for evaluation after complaining of a headache from breathing fumes.
