Crews searching for missing swimmer off Treasure Island beach

Coast Guard crews searched overnight for a woman last seen swimming near the beach in Treasure Island.

A man walking on the beach around 9 p.m. Saturday saw a woman wearing a bikini enter the water and swim toward a buoy not far from shore, according to Bay News 9. When the man returned to the area behind the Bilmar Beach Resort Hotel he did not see the woman, but her clothes were still on the sand.

Coast Guard crews have been searching for the woman since about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, with help from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and the Treasure Island Police Department.

The woman was described as being in her mid 30s and wearing a metallic silver bikini.
