Crime Stoppers offers reward in unsolved murder

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a $1,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest in the unsolved murder last year of a Holiday man known as "Chicken."

The body of Eric Cornell Crenshaw, 39, was found about 10 p.m. Sept. 7 beside Baillies Bluff Road near Anclote Gulf Park in Holiday just north of the Pinellas-Pasco county line. His lower back was riddled with bullet holes, according to a Pinellas County sheriff's search warrant that sketched out the final hours of Crenshaw's life.

About the same time that Crenshaw's body was discovered, Pinellas authorities found a burning truck on County Road 90 in Palm Harbor that they later connected to the murder. The keys were still in the ignition of the abandoned white truck.

Detectives found bullet holes through the front passenger seat of the truck and a plastic bag full of blood, according to the search warrant. A 9mm bullet casing and a blood-spattered Sean John shirt were found in the cab.

The truck was registered to Anthony Stephens Tree Trimming.

Detectives interviewed Anthony Stephens, 38, of Clearwater, who was identified in court records as a childhood friend of Crenshaw's.

Stephens said he and Crenshaw had driven the truck that afternoon, then switched to a different vehicle about 5 p.m. when they had "mechanical problems."

Stephens told detectives he dropped off his friend in Pasco County at 8 p.m. He said he had no knowledge of the killing. Stephens has not been charged with anything.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for Crenshaw's death.

Anyone with any information may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at www.crimestopperstb.com, text "CSTB plus your tip" to 274637 (CRIMES) or send a mobile tip to Crime Stoppers' "Tipsubmit Mobile" application, which is a free download for iPhones, iPads, and Droids.
