DADE CITY -- Pasco Sheriff's detectives have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy with attempted murder in connection with a Monday night home invasion in Tommytown.
Carlos Solorio, of Dade City, has been charged with attempted felony murder and armed home invasion robbery.
Just before midnight on Jan. 5, according to an affidavit, four masked Hispanic men kicked in the front door of a Dade City residence. Two of them reportedly carried handguns.
The men split up. One man cornered a victim, Mario Panjoj, in his bedroom, while two others cornered another victim, Francisco Yat, in his bedroom, according to the affidavit.
The suspects said they would kill the victims, the report says.
Panjoj yelled to Yat to call 911, prompting the suspects to take the victims' cellphones, the report says.
Panjoj then grabbed a metal pole from a closet and tried to defend himself, the report says, and three suspects fled the home on Lock Street. Panjoj struck the remaining suspect twice with the pole, causing him to fall on his back.
The suspect then shot twice at Panjoj, hitting him in the abdomen and the leg, the report says. He was taken to the hospital Monday and was expected to live.
The Pasco Sheriff's office identified Solorio through latent prints left on a door handle inside the house.
The victims have told authorities they do not know Solorio, and Solorio told interviewers that he doesn't know the victims and has never been to their home.
Solorio "denied involvement in this case and stated he does not know how his fingerprints were inside of the victims' residence," the report says.
