PORT RICHEY — A 41-year-old Uber driver was arrested Friday after police said he pointed a firearm at another driver because he was annoyed that she was texting and driving.

Philip Macchio was driving near State Road 52 and U.S. 19 around 12:30 a.m. Friday when he noticed another driver texting while driving, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Macchio then drove in front of the victim's vehicle and tapped his brakes multiple times, authorities said.

The victim drove around Macchio in an attempt to pass him, deputies said. The victim said Macchio then pointed a firearm at her. She described it as a black pistol.

During a traffic stop, Macchio admitted he had a black Glock 19 in his center console. Police said it was unsecured and concealed.

Macchio said he was annoyed the other driver was texting and driving and attempted to show her his cellphone, which was royal blue, white and black, not a firearm.

Macchio is currently being held at the Pasco County jail. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and carrying a concealed firearm.
