HOLIDAY — The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested a 62-year-old man late Sunday on allegations that he sexually molested a 7-year-old girl multiple times.

Joseph Mansfield was arrested at his home, 1330 Basswood Drive, about 11:30 p.m. on a felony charge of lewd and lascivious molestation and fondling, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The identity of the girl and the location the incidents took place was withheld by deputies due to the nature of the allegations.

Earlier Sunday evening, the girl’s mother told deputies, she walked into a TV room and saw her daughter seated on Mansfield’s lap with his left arm reaching around the girl’s buttocks. The mother said Mansfield’s left hand "appeared" to be touching the girl beneath her dress.

When she took her daughter to another room, the girl told her mother that Mansfield had molested her on several occasions, according to the arrest report.

Mansfield himself later admitted to molesting the girl six to seven times in the past two months, deputies said. He was booked into the Pasco County jail on Monday, where he was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
