Deputies: Riverview brothers, shot by bar owner they confronted with baseball bat, in critical condition

RIVERVIEW — Two brothers are in critical but stable condition after a Friday shooting at a bar, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Jeffrey S. Long, 69, and Stephan M. Long, 55, both of Riverview, were undergoing treatment Saturday morning at Tampa General Hospital, the agency reported.

The incident took place at about 6:30 p.m. at the Beer Shed, 11222 Caso Loma Dr.

Deputies say the two brothers have had ongoing arguments with the bar’s owner, Mark A. Sullivan, 57. They confronted him at the bar Friday, according to the agency, and Stephan Long punched Sullivan in the face.

Sullivan pulled out his .38-caliber pistol, deputies said, and then noticed one of them carrying a baseball bat.

He shot both brothers — Stephan Long in the chest, Jeffrey Long in the shoulder — according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives interviewed Sullivan and are still investigating, although no charges have yet been filed.

Security cameras captured the incident on video, according to the agency.
