SPRING HILL — A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a July building fire, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Christopher Lamar Jamison of Spring Hill faces 10 counts of attempted murder and charges of arson and aggravated stalking. His arrest comes after deputies said he set fire to the home of his ex-girlfriend.

The incident took place on the 4400 block of Chamber Court about midnight on July 23.

Deputies gave this account of Jamison's involvement:

Jamison arrived at the house where his ex-girlfriend lived just before midnight. Then, deputies said, he set the home's lanai on fire, which quickly spread to the roof, engulfing much of the building. One of the residents saw the fire and alerted the others, who all escaped uninjured.

Deputies said that Jamison knew the lanai was alongside his ex-girlfriend's bedroom and that he knew most of the occupants would be sleeping when he arrived. His ex-girlfriend told investigators that since breaking up with him about two months before the fire, Jamison had threatened to burn her house down if she did not take him back.

After the blaze, the Sheriff's Office said, the woman "was contacted anonymously" by Jamison, who admitted to her that he started the fire.

He was being held Friday in the Hernando County jail on $530,000 bail.
