CLEARWATER — Pinellas County deputies are looking for four people who may have information about a strip club brawl that critically injured a 35-year-old woman.
Detectives say the group of four were involved in a fight at the Oz Gentlemen’s Club with 32-year-old Sonny Mendoza and his girlfriend, Kara Thobe.
Thobe was left critically injured, deputies said, after her boyfriend threw her to the ground during the fight. Deputies said he slammed Thobe’s head in the cement until patrons restrained him. Deputies said surveillance video shows Mendoza and Thobe arguing with the group of four before the fight broke out.
Surveillance video also shows Mendoza fighting with the unidentified males, deputies said. Mendoza told police he "mistakenly slammed Thobe into the ground multiple times thinking he was fighting one of the unidentified males," according to a news release.
Deputies described one of the men as black and tall with long dreadlocks or braids and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve shirt, yellow vest, a large necklace and Chicago White Sox hat.
One of the women was described as having light brown skin, medium build and was last seen wearing her hair pulled back and glasses. The other woman was also described as having light brown skin and a medium but had wavy hair. She was last seen wearing a tank top, see-through shirt and torn jeans.
Deputies did not have a description of the other man involved.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact detective James Upton (727) 582-6321 or remain anonymous and contact Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
