East Tampa woman arrested in the death of her roommate

TAMPA — A woman is facing a second-degree murder charges after her roommate was found stabbed to death Monday morning, police said.

Carol Handa-Dobis, 65, was found with multiple wounds to her neck they believe came from a knife just before 10 a.m. in a home at 3902 E 21st Ave. Tampa police received descriptions of her roommate while investigating.

They found the roommate, Monica Alejandra Lozano, 38, near the home with large amounts of blood on her clothing, as well as scratches on her face, according to a news release. She was placed under arrest.

Police said late Monday they don’t have a motive for the attack.
