HUDSON — A 35-year-old Spring Hill woman was arrested early Monday morning after the Florida Highway Patrol said she drove off after her van struck a pedestrian.
The incident took place at about 1:29 a.m. at U.S. 19 near State Road 52. Natasha Bustamonte, 35, was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram van north along the inside lane of U.S. 19.
Then a pedestrian, Tracy Valure, 30, stepped into the van’s path, the FHP said. The outside mirror of the van struck Valure, troopers said, injuring her.
But Bustamonte didn’t stop and call for help, the FHP said, and instead drove off. Troopers stropped the van further north on U.S. 19 at Aripeka Road. Bustamonte was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury. Her jail status was unknown late Monday.
The inured pedestrian was reported to be in serious condition at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. The FHP said the crash was not alcohol-related.
