BROOKSVILLE — A Hernando County Sheriff’s Office deputy resigned Tuesday in a letter sent to his boss from jail, a spokeswoman said.
William Cole Brinson, 43, was taken into custody by deputies at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, after he barricaded himself inside a home on Royal Drive for about 11 hours overnight. The incident reportedly began as a domestic dispute, the agency said.
Brinson barricaded himself inside the home after a dispute "involving alcohol" was reported to deputies about 7:40 p.m. Monday.
He was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and three counts of domestic battery, deputies said.
Brinson worked as a deputy since 2004, the agency said.
