Man started screaming, friend says, before shooting father and son at South Tampa home

TAMPA — A 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting Tuesday night in South Tampa that sent a father and son to the hospital, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Jonathan Lacroix was charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of carrying a concealed firearm.

David Bowles, 68, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. His son, Adam Bowles, 33, was shot twice in the leg, police said. Both were taken to Tampa General Hospital and are expected to survive.

The shooting took place just after 6:30 p.m. in an apartment at 3309 W Price Avenue, south of Gandy Boulevard and west of MacDill Avenue.

Tampa police received a call about the shooting and sent a SWAT team to the home, but officers found Lacroix about 8:15 a.m. at a nearby Popeye’s restaurant. Lacroix was in possession of the handgun used in the shooting, police said.

A woman who said she is Lacroix’s ex-girlfriend, Alisa Touchtont, told the Tampa Bay Times the three men were all in the apartment together when Lacroix came in and screamed before opening fire.

Touchtont was at a friend’s house nearby and went to investigate, speaking to Adam Bowles at the scene, she said.

"I pray to God that they are doing well," Touchtont said.

She has seen Lacroix before with a .38-caliber Taurus snub-nose handgun, she said.

"I just hope that John gets some help," Touchtont said.
