ST. PETERSBURG — Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who investigators said shot a woman in the stomach Thursday night during a fight at a mobile home park.
The incident started when Brandon Tartaglia, 21, started a fight with 20-year-old Tyson Garcia and a 17-year-old, who the Tampa Bay Times is not identifying because of his age, at lot No. 21 of the park at 5000 28th St. N. After the fight, Tartaglia retreated two lots down to No. 23, where a second fight took place, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Garcia, the 17-year-old and an unidentified man walked over to the lot during the fight. Garcia then pulled out a handgun and shot Erica Platt, 20, who was watching the fight from the doorway of the home, deputies said. Garcia ran from the scene with the gun.
Paramedics responded about 11 p.m. and took Platt to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies tracked down Garcia and arrested him about 3:15 a.m. on aggravated battery and shooting into an occupied dwelling charges. They also arrested Tartaglia on a battery charge. Both remained in the Pinellas County Jail on Friday morning, Garcia in lieu of $20,000 bail and Tartaglia in lieu of $500 bail.
