Police: St. Petersburg woman crashes car, attacks boyfriend and officer

Times Staff Writer

ST. PETERSBURG — A St. Petersburg woman was arrested Tuesday after police said she tried to hit her boyfriend with a car, crashed it, then attacked the boyfriend and an officer.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Marlus Davis, 48, drove her 2002 Hyundai Sonata off the roadway just after 2 a.m. Tuesday while chasing her boyfriend and attempting to run him over near their home on the 600 block of 15th Avenue S.

Police said Davis crashed the car and her boyfriend went into the backseat to check on her. She pulled out a box cutter and slashed his right arm. When police arrived, Davis continued her attacks. Police said she turned to an officer after being placed in handcuffs and started kicking and kneeing him.

Davis was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. She is currently being held in Pinellas County Jail.

Police said Davis has been seeing her boyfriend, Roosevelt Davis, for six months and the couple moved in together two weeks ago.

Pinellas County jail records show she has been arrested more than 20 times since 2007. Many of those arrests include charges of assault and battery, as well as theft and drug-related charges.
