PORT RICHEY — A 53-year-old woman was arrested on charges that she abducted her neighbor’s 18-month-old son, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, because she believed the mother was unfit.
Ann Orr faces charges of kidnapping and resisting arrest. The mother and child were not identified in the arrest report.
Deputies said they arrived at Leeds Road at about 4:14 p.m. Monday and were told by the mother that Orr had picked up her child and went into her home at 10903 Leeds Road. Orr locked the door and refused to return the child, the mother said.
When deputies arrived, they said Orr refused to unlock the door and let the child go. After 10 minutes, deputies said they convinced Orr to unlock the door and give the child to them.
Then when deputies tried to arrest Orr, they said she "had to be taken to the ground" before she was handcuffed. She was being held Tuesday at the Pasco County Jail in lieu of $10,150 bail.
