ST. PETERSBURG A man was fatally shot while he was in an empty lot Monday night near the Enoch D. Davis recreation center, police said.

The man, whose name was not made public, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Detectives said he was in the lot near a home on the 2000 block of Seminole Boulevard S at about 5:30 p.m. when he was shot. Seminole Boulevard S runs diagonally west of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, between 18th Avenue S and 22nd Avenue S.

No other details about the shooting were released by police.
