Two men wounded in South Tampa shooting; shooter in custody

TAMPA — Two men were injured in a Tuesday night shooting in South Tampa and the shooter was taken into custody soon afterward, according to police.

Both shooting victims were taken to local hospitals and were expected to survive.

The shooting took place just after 6:30 p.m. at a home at 3309 W Price Ave., which is just south of Gandy Boulevard and west of MacDill Avenue.

Tampa police sent its SWAT team to approach the home in case the shooter remained inside. The search ended at about 8:15 p.m. when officers found the shooter nearby.

Police did not release the identities of any of those involved.

Investigators said the shootings do not appear to be random, that the shooter and victims all know each other. No other details were released, including a possible motive for the shooting.
