Accountant accused of embezzling from construction company

PORT RICHEY — An accountant was arrested Wednesday after, deputies say, she embezzled $150,000 from the construction company where she worked.

Christina Petrulli, 30, is accused of embezzling the money over three years at SC Signature Construction Corporation at 8530 Oreto Drive. She was caught after the company's owner got a letter about money drawn off his business account while Petrulli was on a cruise, a Pasco Sheriff's report states.

The owner looked further into the corporate account records and found where the rest of the money was missing, later used to pay Petrulli's personal bills. In an interview with deputies, Petrulli said she took the money but didn't realize it was that much, the report states.

Petrulli, of 404 Portland Ave. in Spring Hill, was arrested on a charge of grand theft. She has since been released after posting $10,000 bail.
