Accused bank robber admits robbing another bank, Hillsborough deputies say

TAMPA — An accused bank robber confessed to a second bank robbery after being arrested Wednesday near University Mall, deputies said.

Robert Irving Hubbard, 33, faces two counts of robbery and charges of fraudulent use of a credit card, dealing in stolen property and false verification of ownership to a second-hand dealer.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Hubbard went into Fifth Third Bank at 13001 N Dale Mabry Highway on Monday and handed the teller a note. After getting money, he got in a 2001 Ford Taurus and drove away. The car was later found.

Deputies developed leads and located him near the mall. He admitted robbing a bank in Venice earlier that day, deputies said. He also is a suspect in other crimes, deputies said, and the investigation continues.
