After standoff in Gibsonton, deputies arrest burglary suspect

GIBSONTON — Deputies arrested a man Thursday night who refused to come out a house on Bull Frog Creek Road.

The man, who was wanted on burglary charges, slipped out the window of 11964 Bull Frog Creek Road and ran into the woods — ending an hours-long standoff, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

But he was tracked down by sheriff's dogs and arrested just before 10 p.m.

Deputies had closed the street between Symmes and Big Bend roads as a SWAT team surrounded the house. Two men were in the home when deputies arrived, but the one without warrants came out when asked.

The arrested man, who deputies did not identify, will be booked into a Hillsborough County jail.
