Arrest made in weekend shooting outside of Brooksville Elks Lodge

BROOKSVILLE — Hernando County authorities have arrested a Brooksville man in connection with a shooting at the Frederick Kelly Elks Lodge early Saturday.

Darius Langley, 22, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a report.

Brandon Inman, 30, who was shot in the stomach and the left arm, was in stable condition Monday, said Hernando County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Donna Black. Because authorities could not yet speak to him, she said the investigation is not complete and they have not determined a motive.

Witnesses told deputies the two men were in a fight, along with several other people, at the Elks Lodge on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Boulevard early Saturday, the report said. Langley was seen holding two handguns and firing shots into the ground, and authorities said Langley admitted to discharging the gun in Inman's direction.

Reports said that during his interview with deputies, Langley threatened to flee the state if he was released from jail. Based on that, authorities will request that he be held without bail.

  5. Bucs top Jaguars behind strong first half

There is a reason why the air in Tampa Bay is filled with playoff talk. If Thursday night's 12-8 Bucs preseason win over the Jaguars is any indication, it's also going to be filled with footballs thrown by quarterback Jameis Winston.

Doug Martin gets the Bucs’ only touchdown on a 2-yard run, squeaking past linebacker Telvin Smith in the first quarter. He has five carries for 30 yards.
