CLEARWATER — About 10 a.m. on Jan. 11 at a construction site on Cleveland Street, a forklift went missing. Five hours later, according to an arrest report, Ryan Eugene McFarland drove it back onto the site.
The 29-year-old homeless man, who was employed at the job site, told police officers he had driven off in the $80,000 piece of heavy machinery to have lunch with a friend and ask for money.
He faces a charge of grand theft.

Boat burglar foiled by his special bowling glove, deputies say
A 34-year-old South Pasadena man is facing a burglary charge after deputies said he broke into a StarLite Cruises boat. Charles Kenney Runnels damaged two hatches early Saturday, according to an arrest report, and one life jacket was missing. On top of the boat, investigators wrote, they found a special-order bowling glove that Runnels had picked up the day before.
He was arrested that night.
ST. PETERSBURG
Man accused of stealing nearly $60 in goat cheese from Publix
Leszek Juszczak was caught outside a Publix on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N with $58.06 of stolen goat cheese in his pockets, according to an arrest report.
The 61-year-old St. Petersburg man had walked past the cash registers before being stopped by a loss prevention officer about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 11.
He faces a charge of petit theft.
