BROOKSVILLE — An Ohio woman is accused of befriending a Hernando County man over the Internet, moving in with him, and obtaining several credit cards using his name.
The woman, Linda Mitchell, 42, ran up charges of at least $2,374, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit.
The woman, who neglected to tell the Brooksville man that she was still married, fled to the Marengo, Ohio, area in February, the report states. The woman's husband, Jerome Mitchell, later told the Brooksville man that he found items belonging to him in his wife's possession.
He also acknowledged that she had stolen from him as well.
Linda Mitchell also has been charged with defrauding a Hernando County woman during the same time while she acted as the woman's caregiver, the report states. Mitchell is accused of using the woman's credit card 19 times to make purchases totaling more than $3,800.
She was arrested Friday on multiple counts of identity theft, grand theft and organized fraud.
