Brooksville man jailed on sexual battery charge

BROOKSVILLE — A Saturday arrest on a charge of sexual battery marked Brooksville resident Frank Malicoate's 18th arrest.

This time, an unidentified 37-year-old woman was the alleged victim, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Malicoate is accused of moving the woman, who was intoxicated, into his bedroom and raping her Saturday evening.

Malicoate told deputies the woman willing entered his bedroom without clothing and attempted to seduce him, according to the arrest report. He said he had had several drinks that night and used crack cocaine about one hour before the incident occurred.

Deputies arrested him on a charge of sexual battery.

Malicoate's lengthy criminal record includes arrests on aggravated assault, aggravated battery, domestic battery, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance, records show. Seven of Malicoate's arrests were in 2003. The majority were violent crime and ranged from assault to burglary.

As of Monday, Malicoate remained at Hernando County jail.
