TAMPA — A 30-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday night after police said he had sex with a 16-year-old runaway.
Shedrick Jenrette was found Tuesday having sex with the girl, police said. She first said she was just friends with Jenrette, police said.
The two were apparently living together. Two other men who also lived there, Joshua Basso, 29, and Joseph Blesch, 22, witnessed the incident. Police said they will not release the address or the teenager's name to protect her.
Basso and Blesch told police they'd seen Jenrette and the girl having sex and Jenrette taking provocative photos of her, which police found.
The girl confirmed that she and Jenrette had sex more than once and that she was only 16, police said.
Jenrette asserted that the two had never been sexually involved and were just friends, police said.
He was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $15,000 bail.
