SOUTH PASADENA — Road rage led to Friday afternoon's shooting in the parking lot of Palms of Pasadena Hospital, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the incident began shortly before 3 p.m. when 83-year-old Nathan Snyder of St. Petersburg cut in front of 64-year-old George S. Hall of St. Pete Beach as the two were driving near the intersection of Gulf Port Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue.

The two men, Hall on a motorcycle and Snyder in a green Hyundai, then pulled into the hospital parking lot, said sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda.

Once Snyder's car door was opened, Hall "began punching Snyder in the head while Snyder remained seated in the vehicle," the sheriff's office said.

Snyder, who was going to the hospital to see his wife, told deputies that he feared for his life and shot Hall with a handgun that was in his car. The injury to Hall was not life threatening.

After Hall was treated at the hospital, deputies arrested him on a charge of burglary-battery.

Snyder was treated at Bayfront Medical Center for the injuries he sustained in the attack.

The hospital, at 1501 Pasadena Ave., was locked down after the shooting and deputies set up roadblocks. The lock down has since been lifted.
