Shooting wounds Tampa teenager

TAMPA — A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting at N Avon Street and E Lake Avenue at midnight Saturday.

The teen was standing near the intersection when a dark green Nissan Altima stopped near the intersection, according to a Police Department report. Someone in the car fired several shots toward Walter T. Sharpton, who was hit once with the bullet going through his arm and into his side, according to police.

The Nissan fled west on Lake Avenue.

Sharpton was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was in serious condition, according to police.
