ST. PETERSBURG — Police are looking for a man with a really bad fake beard who they say robbed a bank Monday.

The man went to Florida Bank at 500 Fourth St. N about 10:12 a.m., approached the manager and demanded cash, police said. The robber implied that he had a gun, though no weapon was seen.

Two tellers gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, and then he demanded money from the vault and the drive-through teller, police said. After being told they didn't have access to the vault, the robber fled, heading north on Fourth Street N. No one saw the vehicle.

Police described the robber as black, 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 11 and 190 to 200 pounds, with a beard and mustache that appear to be painted on.

He wore a straw hat with a brim, a black scarf on his head, black-rimmed prescription glasses, latex gloves, khaki slacks, and a white, long-sleeved buttoned shirt. He carried a black laptop-style bag.

St. Petersburg police are asking anyone with information to call (727) 893-7780.
