TAMPA — A man thought to be a security guard was arrested Monday at an East Tampa apartment complex that already faced a mandate from the county to clean up the illegal and drug-related activities on its property.

Adell L. Montgomery, patrolled Avalon Village Apartments, at 14407 Hensel Lane. On Monday the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office booked the felon on a charge of illegal possession of a firearm.

His Florida Class G security guard license is fake.

Montgomery, 33, has several aliases with the same last name, including Demetries and Demitri. He was released Tuesday shortly after midnight on $7,500 bail.

Montgomery has been arrested seven times since 1994. That year he was convicted of felonies for carrying a concealed firearm and carrying it on school grounds. He served nine months in jail and later violated his probation.

In a 1995 charge for unlawful use of a police badge, the judge withheld adjudication, meaning Montgomery would not be considered a felon as a result of that case.

News researcher John Martin contributed to this report. Ileana Morales can be reached at imorales@sptimes.com or (813) 226-3403.
