Zephyrhills mother, daughter stole $20,000 from 93-year-old relative, police say

ZEPHYRHILLS — A mother and her daughter are accused of stealing more than $20,000 from a 93-year-old relative — the mother's grandfather-in-law, who has dementia and is battling cancer — according to the Zephyrhills Police Department.

Robin L. Walgrave, 38, and her daughter Patience F. Walgrave, 19, both of 5603 11th St. in Zephyrhills, are charged with exploitation of the elderly. They were arrested Thursday.

A report says Robin Walgrave acted as the caregiver for the man. The women are accused of taking the man to financial institutions to cash numerous checks between April 10 and Oct. 8, pocketing $20,938.66 of his money.

The report says both women were "fully aware of his dementia." His doctor told authorities that the man also has prostate cancer, in addition to other ailments.

Robin Walgrave, who was listed as an unemployed laborer, was released from the Land O'Lakes jail Friday on $10,000 bail.

Patience Walgrave, who works for CiCi's Pizza on Gall Boulevard in Zephyrhills, was being held without bail, her arrest report said. She is also charged with violating her felony probation on a charge of robbery by sudden snatching, authorities said.
