TAMPA — Police have arrested an 18-year-old woman in Saturday's fatal shooting of a Tampa man.
Andrew Jones, 21, was shot about 1:40 a.m. outside an apartment at 7309 Hutton Place in what started as a robbery attempt, police said.
Based on his phone records, investigators learned that Jones had been with Asia Jackson of 3906 Carrollwood Place Circle, No. 301, just before he was killed.
An arrest affidavit states that Jackson admitted planning a robbery with her boyfriend. She was to take Jones out and bring him back to Hutton Place apartments about 1 a.m., where her boyfriend would be waiting, the affidavit states.
Jackson and Jones arrived 40 minutes late. When they parked and were sitting in Jones' Chevrolet Impala, Jackson's boyfriend opened the driver's-side door and shot Jones, police said.
Jackson got out and ran away. She later told police she received no stolen property or money from the robbery.
Jackson was arrested Sunday night at the Tampa Police Department's downtown headquarters. She faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. She remains in the Hillsborough Jail without bail.
Jackson's boyfriend, named as her co-defendant on her arrest affidavit, has not been arrested or named as a suspect, police said.
