St. Petersburg man accused of video voyeurism

ST. PETERSBURG — Bruce Edward Weese has a knack for making women suspicious.

In 2006, he was accused of entering the women's restroom at Parkside Movies 16. And last March, he was arrested on a loitering charge after peeping in an apartment window, officials said.

On Monday, Weese was arrested again.

Police say he photographed a woman bent over a display at the Beall's Department Store with a cell phone camera. Weese also photographed an 11-year-old girl in the ladies restroom by sticking his cell phone under a stall door, police said.

Both incidents happened this month at the Beall's at 7899 Martin Luther King St. N, police said.

Weese, 52, faces one charge of video voyeurism for the incident involving the woman. Police are still investigating and say he could face more charges.

Detective Peter Venero said police received numerous tips about Weese after releasing Beall's surveillance footage of him last week that appeared on local TV news and Web sites, including tampabay.com.

Venero said numerous women said they found Weese strange, even if he just stood behind them in a line.

"We would like to talk to any other victims who may be out there," Venero said.

Weese lives in the Hollywood Trailer Park in the 7200 block of Fourth Street N. He has been arrested about 30 times since 1980, mostly for petty charges such as DUI and disorderly conduct.

Weese pleaded no contest in October 2006 to charges of resisting arrest and voyeurism related to the incident in the movie theater, court records show. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 12 months of probation.
