TAMPA — Twice in two days, police say a maroon sedan was seen driving away after gunshots that left a man dead Monday and another wounded Tuesday.
Neighbors say Rigoberto "Rico" Contreras was standing outside his trailer Tuesday at the Easy Living Mobile Home Park, 4943 E Hillsborough Ave., when he was confronted by people in a Toyota.
At least one of the car's occupants got out and demanded Contreras' wallet, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
He refused. A struggle followed, ending with Contreras, 29, shot in the left arm.
Davis said Tuesday's shooting is "definitely very similar" to Monday's attack, in which Gustavo Adolfo Villanueva, 41, was found shot to death at at N Nebraska Avenue and E 20th Street. Investigators say a maroon Toyota may have been involved in that shooting as well.
