BROOKSVILLE — A 33-year-old Brooksville woman died early Thursday after she was struck by a car on U.S. 41 and Celia Avenue about 3 miles south of Brooksville.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Sonjie M. Paul was walking west across the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 shortly after 4 a.m. when she apparently stepped into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet driven by Fred L. Haselbarth, 58, of Spring Hill.

Paul was taken to Spring Hill Regional Hospital, where she later died of her injuries. FHP is continuing to investigate the accident.

SPRING HILL — An 18-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday after her car spun and flipped during a late-night accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Erin Nicole Robinson's Toyota Scion drifted onto the shoulder about 1:30 a.m. as she drove north on Mariner Boulevard, troopers said. As she tried to get back on the road, her car spun, slid into other lanes and flipped.

Robinson was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital. Troopers estimated her car had $25,000 in damage
