TAMPA — An on-campus altercation Tuesday led a University of South Florida student to file battery charges against the video coordinator of the school's football team.

Kyle Digiacomo, 22, told university police that 41-year-old James DeGerome grabbed him by his shirt and when he tried to twist away DeGerome's wrist hit him in the mouth, said Sgt. Drew Cafarelli.

Police received the call at 1:21 p.m., but no one was arrested.

The misdemeanor battery charges were direct filed to the State Attorney's Office, which will decide whether to prosecute.

It is unknown if DeGerome faced any disciplinary action from the university.
