Marcello Church, once a football star at Lakewood and later a player for the Florida State Seminoles, faces two felony charges of having sex with a minor.

Church, 27, was arrested Thursday evening.

His bail is $40,000.

According to St. Petersburg police, Church had sex with a 17-year-old on four separate occasions in four separate locations between Oct. 2008 and Nov. 2008. At the time, Church was a volunteer assistant coach at Lakewood.

Church has admitted to having sex with the female victim and knowing it was illegal, police said.

While in high school, Church was regarded as one of the state's top linebackers. He also played running back.

At FSU, he was a linebacker. As a senior with the Seminoles in 2005, he tied for third on the team in sacks.

Church overcame a horrific leg injury late in his senior year and earned a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2007.

According to NFL.com, Church has one year of NFL experience (2007).
