TAMPA — A 7-year-old boy was found here Wednesday after disappearing with his mother last weekend in Bradenton.

Bradenton police said Wednesday morning they believed Angel Perez was in danger after comments his mother, Maria Apicella, 45, made to her husband. Bradenton police Lt. John Affolter said he couldn't elaborate on what those comments were.

But Apicella disputed the claims after she and her son were located.

"There might be a huge twist here involved in all this," Affolter said. "It might get interesting."

Police said Perez was last seen Saturday going to a softball game with his mother. He was wearing a white-and-yellow baseball jersey, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Perez's father reported the boy missing about 9 p.m. Tuesday night after Apicella contacted him, police said.
