Bealls Outlet manager faces theft charge

BROOKSVILLE — A Bealls Outlet manager was charged with grand theft Wednesday after she was accused of stealing more than $1,500 from the discount store.

According to authorities, 51-year-old Linda Landis admitted to making several fraudulent refunds at the store at 13019 Cortez Blvd. since October 2011 and keeping the money for herself.

A regional loss prevention investigator brought Landis to the attention of Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

According to a sheriff's report, Landis said the stolen funds had already been spent. She remained in custody Thursday at the Hernando County Detention Center in lieu of $500 bail.
