Bicyclist killed by train in Plant City

PLANT CITY — A 74-year-old bicyclist died Thursday after being hit by an Amtrak passenger train, police said.

At about noon, Keith Webster was biking near the intersection of Baker Street and Maryland Avenue when a train traveling from Lakeland to Tampa hit him.

Plant City police say the railroad track's crossing arms were down at the time and other vehicles were stopped, waiting for the train to pass.

The Plant City Police Department's traffic unit is investigating the incident.
