Bicyclist killed in Dover hit-and-run

DOVER — A bicyclist was struck and killed Sunday evening by a driver who fled the scene, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident on Sydney Dover Road just south of Downing Street occurred about 6 p.m. when the driver of a late 1990s or early 2000s green sedan hit Jesus Dias, 20, of 2626 Sydney Dover Road, Lot 10, the Sheriff's Office said. The driver reportedly stopped momentarily, then fled.

Deputies are asking for the public's help in finding the driver of the car. They said the vehicle should have extensive windshield damage on the passenger side. The car was last seen going north on Sydney Dover Road.
