Bond denied for Bayshore Boulevard rape suspect

TAMPA — As he insisted on his innocence, the man charged with impersonating a police officer and raping a woman on Bayshore Boulevard was denied bond during his first appearance in court Sunday morning.

A Hillsborough County circuit judge denied bond for Luis Marcelo Munuzuri Harris, 31, according to Bay News 9.

During the hearing, Harris denied involvement in the crime.

"I didn't rape anybody. I didn't pistol whip anybody," he said.

Harris is charged with sexual battery, kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, identity theft, aggravated battery with a firearm, organized fraud and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was arrested early Saturday after police were called to a Tampa bar on a report that a man there was claiming to be a narcotics agent and had hit a patron with a gun. Police say he is the same man who posed as an officer and robbed and raped a woman Thursday night on Bayshore Boulevard.
