Brandon High counselor released on bail

BRANDON — A Brandon High School guidance counselor accused of possessing child pornography was released from jail Friday after posting $90,000 bail.

Robert Frederick Murray, 54, was arrested Wednesday and charged with 80 counts of possession of child pornography. A monthlong investigation found that Murray had images of children ages 7 to 12 on a computer in his home, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

A search warrant for Murray's home, filed Friday in Circuit Court, revealed that deputies seized 58 items of evidence Wednesday from Murray's home on Bluegrass Lane in Brandon. The items included several laptop computers, video recorders and cassette tapes, computer hard drives, memory cards, and multiple iPod devices.

Attempts to reach Murray were unsuccessful Friday. An attorney for Murray declined to comment.
