Brandon man, 36, arrested on child porn charges

BRANDON — A 36-year-old man faces nearly three dozen child pornography charges for having files depicting children 13-years-old and younger engaged in sexual activities, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office

Freddie William Mendez of 1212 Versant Drive, Apt. 102, was arrested Tuesday at his home on 30 counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of distribution of child pornography.

Detectives executed a warrant after learning that he was trying to obtain child pornography on Internet websites known to host it.

Mendez had files depicting children 13 years old and younger, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Mendez was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was being held Tuesday on $300,000 bail.
