Brooksville man, 47, accused of fondling girl, 8

BROOKSVILLE — A 47-year-old Brooksville man was arrested Sunday evening on charges that he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl.

The girl and her mother had been staying at the man's house for the past two months while their home was being repaired, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

The girl, whose name is being withheld, told deputies that Paul Patrick Moore touched her in an inappropriate manner on Saturday while he tended to her after she had been hit in the face with a stick.

The girl described several other instances that same day and night when Moore allegedly touched her in a sexually suggestive manner. Moore denied the girl's allegations.

Moore was arrested on charges of sexual battery and lewd/lascivious conduct on a child. He was being held without bail Monday night at the Hernando County Jail.
