Brooksville Police seeking help after emaciated dog discovered

BROOKSVILLE — The Brooksville Police Department is seeking the public's help with a case involving an injured dog that was discovered shortly after midnight Tuesday in a utility room at a vacant residence at 807 Peach St.

Police responding to a call about a barking dog found an emaciated dog, described as a possible pit bull, that was badly cut and bleeding from what appeared to be bite wounds, and without water to drink. Authorities believe the dog was being used in a fighting ring.

Hernando County Animal Services officers took possession of the animal. Anyone with information about the dog should contact Brooksville Police at (352) 540-3800.
